Peace be upon all of you wherever you are!
The head veil is the Islamic dress code that every Muslim woman must wear.
Well amid the huge worldwide campaigns against Islam and its principles, Muslim veiled women seem to be in the front rows of this battle!
Now, if I would like to present what the Islamic veil is to me. I would say the following:
Being a veiled Muslim journalist and media worker has attracted many other foreign and international journalists and documentary film makers to ask questions like how could I be a veiled woman in the same time that I am a journalist.
So their question was: How could I be a veiled journalist???!
I am sure that this question may get many of you now as astonished as I felt at first. But a little analysis of this question shows how far these people are from us; I don’t know whose fault it is. Why does this gap exist? Anyway, I wish that the presence of veiled women on the increasing number of Islamic TVs nowadays will help in answering such a question. But let me today take the initiative through the platform, here, and say:
To us Muslim women, Almighty God has created the human beings of both man and woman in a well-shape; now this well being and shape may attract the different genders to each other which is something very natural, but in order to get the soft gender- as widely known – protected from any irrational deed, His Almighty considered that women’s body should or must be protected by wide and loose clothes that do not reveal the details of the female body parts.
The holy set of values and principles found in the Quran and the Prophetic teachings aims at having a smooth movement for the women in life, society just in parallel with the man. Allah wants to ensure my presence in the society as a complete and active human being occupied in thinking about my progress as a human being, a human employee/ employer/ engineer/ teacher/ medical professional/ pilot or whoever but as a human/ a social human.
At home, I can be the female that I desire: I can enjoy all the feminist features and traits; thus none can claim that Islam has prevented me or limited me as a female creature; I am enjoying a great deal of fun that all women all over the world seek- yet at my home and only with the male relatives who are allowed to see me unveiled: like the husband, the father, the brother, the grandfathers as well as the uncles of both parental sides.
The woman is given the role of a mother, a sister, a wife in addition to that she might be classmate at university or a colleague at work- yet veiled and well-protected in the aspect of her appearance and behavior.
No matter how noisy it is the campaign might be against my veil; yet my veil is my duty as much as it is my right. It is a crown placed on my head; this crown indicates from the glance number one that: Hello Dear, I am obeying Allah.
Thus obeying Allah in wearing the Islamic dress code- head veil and the loose clothes- is a part of the overall Islamic system; it is the duty that I have to start performing as I reach the age of obligation (in Arabic called the age of at-Taklif), which usually begins at age of 8.5 year old for girls. From that age, a girl is supposed to be wearing the scarf and performing the other additional duties (like fastening the whole month of the holy Ramadan, praying 5 times a day, studying and so on.
Thus praying 5 times a day, fasting the whole month of the Holy Ramadan annually, and performing al-Haj duty once it is affordable; all of these go in harmony and alongside with the scarf wearing. Wearing the veil is due whenever a girl/ a lady is to be exposed to a foreigner or a stranger.
One may mistakenly ask how a veiled woman could enjoy her life.
Well, a veiled woman actually enjoys both her complete presence at home and her complete presence in the society. If, for example, the unveiled women made a claim that they are more enjoying their liberty; a veiled woman is enjoying a more extra ordinary pleasure- which is the obedience of Allah. A veiled woman can express and feel the enjoyment of liberty, which she lives at home; yet others are missing the taste of the obedience to ALLAH.
What is beyond This Veil?
Being veiled extends from being apparently covered; many additional things should be taken into consideration, too; a veiled woman should be a socially well-disciplined member; watching her words, her behavior, her actions and reactions.
Now, who is my model in all of this- I mean in being veiled and well-disciplined?
She is LADY FATIMA AL-ZAHRAA, the great daughter of Prophet Muhammad. “FATIMA IS THE LADY OF ALL TIMES ON EARTH AND AFTERLIFE,” Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his Household, says.
Having LADY FATIMA as a model, then nothing would puzzle me or get met lost or wasting my time with today’s misconceptions and misleading of anti-Islam campaigns?!!!!
The whole world is backed by the deceptions of the media power trying to fill the gap of the model. Being in need of a model, they mistakenly went on in creating female models and updating them with the newest fashioned trends.
